The rain doesn't stop, even at the very fringes of Badlands. The older male is about as far away as one can get without being absent from the moist, spongey ground that he grew up standing on. But he's used to this rain- it's poured on him from day one, perhaps even after he left his homelands to seek a better future that he never really found. That summed up his life if anything- always looking for an improvement, never managing to get it, and ending up sitting in the rain feeling sorry for himself. Luckily for the rogue, he'd found a cave- the roof was uncomfortably low for one with such a large stature as himself, but it was better than nothing. Shaking his thick coat off, he'd crawled into the murk, only to find two hostile wolverines already making their home in there. He still bore their marks- large holes in his chest and back leg, still slowly dripping onto his paws at a chilling pace. He took no notice, no matter the pain and the light-headedness; Obsedian sat outside in the rain, and they left him alone. Before much longer, he felt the area around his empty socket aching from the rain, those old scars he'd had for many years. He could still recall the day he lost it, not that he particularly cared to- whilst the event was not the beginning of a terrible childhood, merely a part of it, it had been a wake up call that he'd always needed. He'd gotten away. And he'd always wondered if his siblings ever had. He could sometimes smell the scent of his blood siblings in the distance, not that he ever went close enough to glimpse them. He even sometimes wondered what they'd think of him. He wondered if his brothers were there- and sometimes fancied Cressida might find her way back too(hadn't Father done the same?)..but it never amounted to anything. Blood might be thicker than water, but he had all the water he needed- blood had never amounted to anything but pain. Musing over his own melancholic thoughts in the downfall, the male looked out into the chaos, taken aback to spot a dark figure approuching. When they drew closer, he let out a low growl, hoping that those wolverines would stay where they were and not try to tear his hide off again. But whoever was approaching needed a chance to leave him alone.

The pale violet Halfbreed slowly wandered into the unfamiliar territory, her blind eyes scanning the land for signs of life. She kept her wings tucked tightly to her body and her head held high as a show of false confidence; she was always afraid of flying because of her eyesight, and hunting was hard enough on the ground. As she felt the rain start to lightly burn her fur, she realized this was not normal rain and immediately attempted to seek shelter. Luckily for her, there were small caverns nearby, just her size. She carefully and quickly trotted over to one and shook herself off, hiding inside the entrance.
She soon caught the scent of another nearby, and softly tried to call out to them, "Hello? I know I'm not alone. I apologize if I am intruding, and I mean no harm... ", she stopped and thought for a moment, 'I only hope you offer the same kindness...".[/blockquote] [/div] (( This is roughly how she sees the world. Also srsly Frey y u no RP more. You're good at it. 8|))

The stranger drew closer, and with a single tanzanite eye he spotted wings, pale colours, a ghost in the rain. Perhaps they hadn't heard him; his voice was a little rusty, having been unused for quite a while now. His presence was ignored but seeing as this feline was determined to get to shelter and didn't seem to be aggressive, Obsedian stayed where he was, but in return offered no advice about the wolverines he could smell drawing closer.
Then it- she - spoke out and he huffed to himself quietly, wondering what to say with his typical laboured breaths leaving clouds in the air. With another huff, and a light splatter of blood falling from his chest to the dirt, the male turned around so that his back no longer faced her.
"Wolverines."
It didn't occur to him that she might not understand what he meant, but it took him a while, silence awkwardly hanging between them for some long, stretching seconds. Another patter and Obsedian felt his toes go warm, then casually glanced down at the crimson mixing into the dark ashy browns of his front left paw. Without concern he looked up again, staring at the light form without blinking.
"They were here first. The rain drives all outsiders away, it seems. If I were you, i'd watch my hide."
[ Pretty! And look- i'm trying again! This is my effort for now ff. ]

She poked her head out of the entrance way of her own cave and smiled softly, "Ah, hello there. Thank you for the warning, it's awfully hard to see anything through all of these small caverns, even more so with my bad eyesight ".
She caught a faint metallic scent and frowned, her naturally sing-song voice growing louder and more urgent, 'Sir, are you hurt? I smell blood in the air, and I fear that will only bring back the Wolverines, or worse. I might be able to help you, if you would like it".[/blockquote] [/div] ((YES AND IT'S GOOD. Also Spectre is being more outgoing than usual here, since two timid characters would just kinda waffle about not speaking to each other LOL))

A light lifting of his upper lip in what could have been a smirk or a sneer, but was too subtle to become noticeable, at the mention of her vision. Ah, of course. In it's socket his own eye lolled once, feeling little pity for the blind female as his own shredded sight ached. If he'd been left in the dark about her blindness, of course, he wouldn't have visually reacted- but given the chance he allowed himself to be outrightly rude. And in a way that was worse than being upfront.
Still, he didn't dwell on it.
"No...no." Obsedian paused with a sigh. "Just little bites; they want us to leave....," his frown drew heavier(if that was possible); "...and it's always rained here." The older male stood with a grunt and went quiet again, watching the falls for....anything.
"I'm leaving on my terms." He spoke up slightly louder, not looking at the female but making sure she heard. "We could go north....there's...well, family there. No shelter." No feelings, either. "Or west...I suppose we'd hit something. Probably no rain." Tongue flicked out to clean around his muzzle in contemplation. "And that's assuming you want to leave too."
There weren't many other places she could go, and he assured himself that the land was drawn better in his mind than her's. Long, empty plains of rotting yellow dirt with the occasional acidic pool; living out here was a specific art that he no longer cared to foster much.
(( Obsedian's assholery is here to break up the shyness! ))

As the acidic rain started to cease, she slowly slunk out of her smaller cavern and started approaching the larger one, "I suppose it'd be safer to move together...especially with undesirables in the area...are you alright to travel? Maybe we should find somewhere to rest safely for a night ".
She stopped outside the entrance, 'Would your family be alright with my presence? My own mother abandoned me, she said my blood was tainted. Impure, because of my father".[/blockquote] [/div] ((Short post, not feeling too well. x__x))

"I was born out here....we might be safe if they found us. I might even recognize some." The male glanced down at his wounds once with a kind of dull stare. He didn't remember the pride having any particular policies- and any they'd once had, had probably been broken a thousand times. They'd never been told these things because maybe there was no need. A young kid in a place as distant as a roving satellite was only in danger if he went too far.
When the female mentioned her bloodlines the male suddenly stiffened, nose wrinkling with that slap on the face. Talk like that was familiar. Purebloods and that bullshit. He felt his socket aching again, and focused on that rather than on the pale one. "...Hellions, right?" If she indicated yes, Obsedian's muzzle with lift slightly to show carnivorous teeth, not a sanitised white but a feral cream. "It might help, but I don't think we should stay long anyway."
With a swipe across his teeth he started forward again slightly, talking without looking for her. "...We can go past them, I suppose. Drop in. There's always something beyond this place." The back of the Big T, then.
(( I am a huge butthead ok ))
